Hey folks here are some highlights coming up for the spring and summer:

Blues Awards
May 8th I headed down to Memphis to see if I won the “song of the year” at the Blues Awards and rooted for The Heritage Blues Orchestra to win Album of the year and Best Traditional Album of the year! We didn’t take the gold but we had a great time together and did the all important schmoozing these events are designed for.

Blues and Cognac
Lurrie Bell and I perform for Blues and Cognac event at the City Winery May 17th.
Matthew Skoller Band Headlines Buddy Guys Legends on Saturday May 18th.

Chicago Blues Festival
Matthew produces and hosts grande finale of the Chicago Blues Festival June 9th at the Petrillo Band Shell: Chicago Blues: Old School, New Millennium. Featuring James Cotton, Eddie Clearwater, John Primer, Billy Branch, Lil Ed, Deitra Farr and Demetria Taylor.

July 18,19th and 20th The Matthew Skoller Band headlines The Japan Blues Festival in Aomori, Japan. Then on the 21st and 22nd Matthew and Johnny Iguana perform as a duo in Tokyo.

Farmer’s Markets
Matthew will resume his music making next to Farmer’s Markets in the Austin neighborhood here on the West Side of Chicago. Sponsored by The Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events Matthew and his colleagues will perform duos from the end of June until the end of October working to make fresh and organic fruits and vegetables available to residents of “food deserts” while performing in one of the neighborhoods that spawned the world changing music known as Chicago Blues.
